Toni Bou (Montesa) goes into this weekend’s TrialGP of USA – the sixth and penultimate round of the 2025 Hertz FIM Trial World Championship – with an incredible nineteenth consecutive title in the premier TrialGP class within his reach.

The thirty-eight-year-old Spaniard – arguably the most successful sporting motorcyclist of all time – has dominated Trial ever since claiming his first title in 2007 and he will start at LeGrand Reynolds Horseman’s Area in Exeter, Rhode Island, knowing he could once again rewrite the Trial history books.

Having failed to win just two of the twenty races staged so far over rounds in Spain, Portugal, Japan, France and San Marino, Bou has a sizeable seventy-point advantage and with a maximum of eighty-two points available this weekend, if his rivals falter the crown could be his with one round remaining.

It’s been a really good season,” he said. “We are performing very well in every Grand Prix and the team is doing a great job. Our mentality is always to go race by race and there are still points at stake so we have to continue in the same line.

Famous for his steely focus and ability to soak up immense pressure, despite his unparalleled success Bou still follows basically the same training regime as he always has and puts his longevity down to his undimmed passion for the sport.

More or less I always do the same thing. In the mornings I train on the bike until midday and in the afternoons I take the opportunity to go and play paddle tennis or football, which is something I like and enjoy a lot. In general, I keep active although it is also important to rest after the races.

With so many races I enjoy the moments when I can be at home. The key is that I love what I do. I enjoy my day-to-day life and racing so it keeps me motivated to do what I love.

On the opening day of this season’s TrialGP of France on the island of Corsica, Bou claimed a landmark one-hundred-and-sixtieth TrialGP win, underlining a level of success that even the man from the city of Piera near Barcelona never expected to achieve.

The truth is that I never imagined I would get these numbers. It’s something incredible that I try to enjoy because you never know when it will be over and I’m happy with how my sporting career is going.

The good news for his tens of thousands of fans around the world – and the bad news for his rivals – is that Bou is not even contemplating hanging up his boots in the foreseeable future.

I’m not thinking about the end of my career. I still have a contract until 2027 so we are focused on going season by season and as long as I continue to enjoy riding I will continue to compete.”

The points-scoring action from LeGrand Reynolds Horseman’s Area is scheduled to get under way at 10:00 (local time) on Saturday (12 July) and Sunday (13 July).
