As 2017 proved again, the Spanish riders remain a dominant force in the TrialGP series across all classes and Spain remains one of the most important nations in the development of the sport. During its first season at the helm as promoters of the new look TrialGP championship, the British based Sport7 company and its staff enjoyed a close working relationship with RFME representative and Team Manager Jordi Prat, which was under pinned by a great level of mutual respect between the two parties.
As the single largest federation in terms of participants in the TrialGP series, Sport7 was delighted by the level of support and collaboration provided by the RFME during its inaugural season. Sharing the philosophy that the future growth of Trial globally will benefit from national championships following the same rules as the FIM Trial World Championship, the RFME has taken the bold and brave step to include many of the initiatives introduced by Sport7 last year into their 2018 domestic championship that kicked off last weekend.
This year’s Spanish Championship now includes qualification for starting order, an enforced break between laps of the Trial, printed number panels for riders in order to remove bibs and the introduction of a TrialE class to mention just a few of the areas where they have followed the TrialGP lead.
Sport7 wishes the RFME every success for their new look national series and hopes that other federations will follow and support the unification of the main sporting Trial rules in the future.
