11/09/17 – With an incredible twenty-two individual FIM World titles, now to his name it is hard to find new or suitable words to describe the unequalled success of Toni Bou – Repsol Honda. Yesterday at the TrialGP Czech Republic King Bou clinched his eleven-successive outdoor crown, but not in the manner he had really hoped for as he finished runner up to his long and arch rival Adam Raga – TRRS on the day.
Never fully satisfied with his achievements, due to own self-imposed high standards, Bou’s appetite for more success shows no signs of dwindling, and he was in a reflective mood after yesterday’s Trial as he confirmed that finally he was both happy and relieved to have wrapped up the series ahead of this weekend’s closing TrialGP event in Italy.
As his team celebrated noisily around him, Toni stated. “Today was a complicated day from the beginning. I battled to win the Trial, but today it was not to be, although the main aim today was to get the title. I am very happy, despite several issues. The wet terrain we found today is not really the one I like the most, or one that favours the bike best, but we fought hard to finish on the podium. This season has been a very good one, the first victory in Camprodon, Spain and the two in Japan, where Adam Raga lost points, have been important, as well as the two victories at TrialGP USA just before the summer break.”
“Although I never expected it, after the early mistakes I did feel some pressure, as it was important for me to win the title today and not leave the situation open. Overall it has been one of my best seasons and it feels beyond a dream to have won so many titles.”
