The Queen of the American Trial scene, Maddie Hoover – Gas Gas is determined to build on her 2017 successes and challenge for this year’s Trial2 Women title.
The nineteen-year-old from North Carolina started last season strongly with a podium on the opening day at her home round at TrialGP USA, but slipped off the pace as the series moved to Europe and she ended her challenge in seventh.
However, for 2018 she has upped her game over the winter and has kept her eyes on the prize as she readies herself for the feet-up females’ first ever visit to the land of the rising sun for the ladies’ championship opener over the first weekend in June.
“The off-season has been my best yet,” says Maddie. “Since November I’ve been training in Norway with some of the Top Trial Team riders and we’ve also been training in Spain where I’ve felt myself improving every day.”
Riding Trial at such a high level in 2017 was a steep learning curve for Maddie, but she took it all in her stride and plans to build on her experiences as she bids to emulate her all-time heroine Laia Sanz.
“Last year was the most enjoyable season yet. I really like the new format of competition and qualification! I didn’t quite keep the consistency I had hoped to have, but I found out my weaknesses and have been working on them.”
“I had aimed to do better and move up to the TrialGP Women class this year, but my results just weren’t good enough. This season I hope to be on the podium at every event and move up to the GP class next year – I have a lot of focus and determination to do well this season…”
