- ROUND 1 – ITALY
The series gets under way on May 25-26 with TrialGP Italy at the picturesque Metzler Off-road Park at Pietramurata di Dro in the foothills of the Alps. The dramatic, purpose-built venue made its World Championship debut in 2017 with the mixture of man-made and natural sections proving to be a huge hit with riders and Trial fans alike so it is the perfect location to kick off the 2019 series.

From Italy the best Trial riders on the planet make the long annual journey to the iconic Twin Ring Motegi circuit for TrialGP Japan on June 7-9 which, for the only time this season, will feature two points-paying days of competition.

Following a two-week break the action resumes on June 22-23 at Zelhem in the Netherlands, marking the first time in 40 years the championship has visited the country. Zelhem is a highly-regarded purpose-built facility that has previously hosted European Trial events in 2012 and 2017.

It’s then just a short hop across the border for TrialGP Belgium, round four of the series, at Comblain au Pont on June 29-30 where the nearby town’s bustling bars, restaurants and cafes – along with the challenging course plotted on big rocks and steep bankings in woodland – combine to give the event a very special buzz.

Round five takes place on July 13-14 with TrialGP Portugal. Building on last year’s successful event, the championship returns to the small town of Gouveia on the edge of the beautiful Serra da Estrela Natural Park where huge, imposing boulders will test the riders’ courage and technique.

The following weekend on July 20-21 it’s TrialGP France at the amazing Alpine venue of Auron, just 50 miles north of the millionaires’ Mediterranean playground of Nice. Situated 1600 metres above sea level, sections at the ski resort – which TrialGP visited for the first time last year – comprise giant rounded boulders in a dry riverbed and fearsome angular rocks on the side of a steep, wooded hillside.

After its traditional summer break, the series signs off on September 21-22 with TrialGP Spain at La Nucia near Benidorm in the south east of the country. A favourite venue for Spanish riders, the grippy rocks set in the dramatic, arid landscape provide a fitting location for the climax of the 2019 FIM Trial World Championship.

The final event on the calendar is the FIM Trial des Nations and FIM Women’s Trial des Nations which this year takes place on Ibiza on September 28-29. Visiting the Balearic island for the first time in its illustrious 35-year history, the event is often described as the World Cup of Trial with riders travelling from across the globe to represent their countries in this unique inter-nation team event.
