Matteo Grattarola – Gas Gas is just one of two Italian riders competing in the TrialGP class at this weekend’s British Trial Grand Prix that marks the penultimate round of the 2016 FIM Trial World Championship. At twenty-eight years old Grattarola is the much more experienced part of the Italian duo when compared to his younger compatriot Gianluca Tournour – Gas Gas.

Never short of a smile, Matteo has long been a part of the series and first moved up to the blue ribbon class back in 2010. Missing from last year’s campaign Grattarola’s presence back in the paddock is a welcomed one with him being a highly popular figure amongst the other riders much due to his warm personality. Currently ranked ninth in the general standings, Matteo has Spain’s Jorge Casales – Beta within his sights with a real chance of moving up to eighth in the rankings come the end of the season.

Grattarola’s best result in 2016 to date came on the opening day in Japan when he placed sixth amongst the World’s best. The compact Italian rider will be hoping his trip to Britain this weekend will bring him similar rewards with the going at Tong being not unlike the terrain that he excelled on in Motegi and is certainly a rider capable of causing an upset on any given day.
